The commission reviewed an interlocal agreement with the Orange County Office of the Medical Director that, staff said, formalizes ongoing medical direction, quality management and medical communications oversight for the city’s fire department. Staff said the agreement allows paramedics and EMTs to continue operating under the medical direction of Dr. Christian Suver through Orange County’s emergency medical system and that there is no financial impact from the agreement.
Commissioners asked whether the city would be left short if the lead medical director departed. Staff replied that Orange County maintains a group of three physicians, including two associate medical directors, so coverage would continue if the lead physician chose to leave. A motion to approve the interlocal agreement was made, seconded and carried unanimously.
