The Mesa City Council unanimously acknowledged receipt of the meeting minutes at its Nov. 17 study session and then used the time for brief updates on community events and schedule announcements.
The mayor called for acknowledgement of the minutes, a motion was made and "Motion passes unanimously" was recorded. Council members then shared recent events: Council Member Taylor described attending a Boeing celebration marking 50 years of Apache helicopter manufacturing in Mesa, noting local job contributions and the presence of state and federal officials. Council Member Taff described attending the "Light the World Giving Machines" event and noted two Mesa charities participated, citing the program’s presence in more than 100 cities and its global donations nearing 50 million.
Vice Mayor praised city staff (Eric Peyton and Larry Snyder) for weekend assistance after a neighborhood house fire that included coordinating with SRP and restoring power to save multiple aquariums. The city manager also reminded members that study sessions are canceled the next two Thursdays (National League of Cities conference and Thanksgiving) and that council will reconvene for study session on Monday, Dec. 1; staff will post the Dec. 1 agenda to Legistar.
The meeting adjourned shortly after the updates.
