Dawn Ginger (finance director) and Sarah Barrows (budget director) updated the Linn County Board of Supervisors on the upcoming budget schedule, health‑fund status and the FY25 audit.
Barrows said the fall FY'26 budget amendment will be presented at a public meeting on Oct. 22 (publication day) and the public hearing for approval will be Nov. 12. She told supervisors there is time to make reductions between publication and the hearing but that increases generally cannot be added after publication.
The directors said consultants (Gallagher) reported favorable trends in the county health and dental fund and recommended no increases in department contributions at this time; staff will provide a further update in December. Barrows urged public involvement early in the FY'27 process and highlighted a public forum scheduled for Nov. 24 at 5 p.m., noting the board typically sees limited attendance at that meeting and encouraging outreach.
Staff also described the FY25 audit schedule: three audit dates were set, two completed, and an on‑site three‑day audit including grant auditing is expected. Finance staff said auditors sometimes make brief calls to supervisors as part of standard procedures.
No budget amendments were adopted during the meeting; staff confirmed the FY'27 preliminary calendar will start Nov. 17 with additional public meetings and hearings planned through April.
