"Our goal is to not have a huge presence of major construction going on at Old Town through the Christmas holiday window," the project representative said.
Council members praised staff outreach efforts, citing previous work on Centennial Park and the planned use of QR codes, signage and targeted business communications. Council members also noted the project's scale; one councilmember described the investment as approximately $10,000,000.
The council approved the award with a roll call vote recorded as 4–0. Staff said contract documents will include provisions addressing contractor responsibilities for minimizing impacts to events, businesses and the public during construction.
