Webster County supervisors approve routine business, buy police interceptor and table snow‑removal award

"The vehicle is priced at $46,900 at the state of Iowa vehicle bid price," the meeting chair said during discussion; supervisors noted existing equipment will be transferred to the new vehicle to avoid buying new gear for 2026 models.
The board also authorized payment to engineering firm McClure for professional services related to the Webster County CN and UPR rail spur in the amount of $21,815. The motion to authorize payment was moved, seconded and carried.
On personnel and appointments, the board opened applications to fill a vacancy on the Board of Health for the remainder of the term ending Dec. 31, 2025; the application period will remain open through Dec. 7, 2025.
The board received bids for a two‑year snow‑removal contract for the Yale Building (723 1st Avenue South, Fort Dodge). Trey Lawrence LLC of Gowrie submitted a bid with itemized pricing that included a $3.20 per full push rate, $2.80 per de‑icing application and a $70 per load hauling charge; Johnson Bros submitted an estimate showing $700 per push/event and a sand charge of $3.50 but did not present the same line‑item structure. Because the proposals were structured differently and one included a hauling fee, supervisors asked staff to review the bids in more detail rather than award the contract immediately; a related agenda item (Item 12) was tabled pending that review.
The board moved to allow claims and then adjourned.
