MidAmerican says Lundgren wind repowering near completion; county questions staging and vandalism

MidAmerican Energy updated the Webster County Board of Supervisors on Oct. 7 about the Lundgren wind‑farm repowering project, saying most turbine installation work is complete and the project is expected to wrap up by 2025.
"We've had a very successful repowering project at Lundgren, and we should be wrapping up by the 2025," said a MidAmerican representative, John Huff (Speaker 12). He said minor restoration work such as replanting grass could carry into 2026 if newly seeded areas do not establish before winter, and that most construction crews have already moved to another repowering elsewhere in the state.
Huff said turbines are "mostly all topped off" and that some interior work in turbines is concluding. He also described an aircraft detection lighting system tower being constructed as part of repowering requirements. Board members asked about the timing for returning staging areas to their original condition and whether the project had experienced theft or vandalism; Huff said such incidents occasionally occur but he had not heard of large‑scale problems this year and offered to follow up by email on specific staging‑area timelines.
There was no board vote tied to the update; the company answered supervisory questions and offered follow‑up on staging and any issues tied to road projects connected to construction.
