The Longwood City Commission met Nov. 3 and handled a range of routine items, community announcements and ceremonial business.
The mayor read a proclamation declaring Nov. 9–15, 2025 as Law Enforcement Records Personnel Week to honor police records staff for their role in maintaining criminal justice records. Police leadership joined commissioners in thanking records personnel for their service.
Commissioner Morgan nominated George Margolis, identified in the record as CEO and owner of "Recovery Connections in Central Bridal," as Business Person of the Month for District 4; the nomination was approved by unanimous voice vote.
The commission addressed the consent agenda. Deputy Mayor Shoemaker moved to pull item A for a correction to the minutes (an attendance entry that Shoemaker said was incorrect). Shoemaker then moved to approve consent items 10A–D with the correction; the motion was seconded and passed on a unanimous roll call vote (Deputy Mayor Shoemaker; Commissioner Boney; Commissioner McMillan; Commissioner Morgan; Mayor Sackett).
City manager and clerk reports included: an update on SR 434 landscaping work (contractor completed an initial vegetation‑removal phase and will install drought‑tolerant native plants with a three‑year maintenance obligation), notification that the deputy mayor rotation will occur Nov. 17 (from District 1 Shoemaker to District 2 Boney), city closure at noon Nov. 21 for the arts and crafts festival, ribbon‑cutting events (Renova by Design on Nov. 19; Form a Wellness on Nov. 21), a Veterans Day event at Lyman High School on Nov. 11, and a grand opening invitation for Urban Youth Park on Nov. 15.
Several commissioners used their reports to highlight recent community events including the Longwood Historic Society Monster Dash 5K, school pep rallies, and local nonprofit and volunteer activities. The meeting adjourned without further action.
