Scurry County recognizes National 4‑H Week and Texas Extension Education Association Week

Members of Scurry County 4‑H visited the commissioners court to present program highlights and to mark National 4‑H Week. Luke Williamson, identified as the county club president, told the court the county’s 4‑H program dates to 1929 and highlighted leadership, camps and scholarship opportunities; he said the program supports youth development and leadership.
County leaders thanked the youth presenters and moved to adopt a formal proclamation recognizing October 2025 as National 4‑H Week in Scurry County; the court also adopted a proclamation recognizing Texas Extension Education Association Week for Oct. 2025. Judge Hicks said the courthouse will be marked in green for 4‑H for the remainder of the week.
TEEA representatives reported volunteer hours and a calculated community value of $99,514 from 11 members. The court accepted the presentations; a ceremonial photo and token exchange followed.
Next steps: proclamations were adopted and organizers said they will share photos with court staff.
