At its Nov. 18 meeting, the Scurry County Commissioners Court completed several routine procurement and budget items.
Donations and minutes: The court accepted cash donations to county entities (the library and senior center were named) and adopted minutes with stated corrections.
Equipment lease: Commissioners reviewed two lease options for the golf course mowers and blades and chose the Cadence option after attorney review; the first payment is not budgeted until 2026, and commissioners said the item would be administratively straightforward.
Janitorial services and budget amendments: The court acknowledged long-running janitorial arrangements for the probation office and library annex, noted recent cost increases (the probation contract rose from about $500 per month to roughly $1,300 per month in the transcript), and approved continuation of probation-office janitorial services with a direction to include a budget amendment in January to cover the higher cost.
Armory repairs: Officials reviewed photographs showing cracking and mortar loss on the armory facade and instructed staff to solicit RFPs for exterior repairs and stabilization, with follow-up expected in the first meeting in January.
Finance housekeeping: County officers presented routine monthly and quarterly reports along with multiple line-item transfers (records, staffing/allowances, precinct maintenance, golf-course funds) and election administration budget amendments; the court moved to approve the transfers and reports.
The court recessed for an executive session to discuss personnel matters at the end of the public meeting.
