Winneshiek County supervisors approved a zoning change for a family parcel known on the record as the southerly portion of Lot 3 in the Southwest quarter of the Northeast quarter of Section 9, Township 99 North, Range 9 West of the 5th P.M. The board voted unanimously to reclassify the property from A‑1 Agricultural to AR Agricultural‑Residential and to update the county zoning map accordingly.
County staff told the board the Planning and Zoning Commission had held a public hearing and unanimously recommended approval; staff reported only one written public comment and no objections. A supervisor moved to approve the rezoning request and advance it as the first reading; that motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The ordinance text was read into the record, including standard repealer and severability clauses, and the board voted to waive second and third readings.
The board called a roll for the final approval; the record shows Shirley, Mark and Steve each answered “Aye,” and the chair declared the measure passed unanimously. The ordinance will take effect after passage and publication as provided by law. The action amends the Winneshiek County Zoning Ordinance and updates the official zoning map for the parcel described in the ordinance language.
The board took the action after planning staff said no written objections were filed and after the commission’s unanimous recommendation. Next steps are publication of the ordinance as required by law and updating county zoning maps and records to reflect the change.
