North Port honors long-serving Chamber leader with key to the city; multiple proclamations adopted

North Port — The City Commission used part of its Nov. 6 meeting to honor a longtime Chamber leader with a ceremonial key to the city and to adopt several proclamations recognizing community observances.
Community members, including Jill Luke and Heather (speaker 14), praised the honoree for sustained leadership and support for local businesses. The mayor thanked the honoree for years of service and presented the key, saying the recipient had been a mentor and an example of steady public leadership.
The commission also adopted proclamations reading: Sept. 7, 2025 as "Love Your Lawyer Day," Nov. 19, 2025 as National Geographic Information Systems Day (with an open house scheduled for Nov. 17 at the Shannon Stobbe Library and planned drone demonstrations), and Nov. 9–15, 2025 as Law Enforcement Records Personnel Week. During that records proclamation, a department representative said the records unit "reviewed over 9,600 case reviews," handled roughly 3,400 public-records requests and processed about 2,700 requests from other law enforcement agencies.
These items were ceremonial and informational; commissioners offered congratulations and no formal legislative action resulted from the proclamations.
