Pensacola Fire Board adopts small investment-policy change, elects new trustee and approves routine payments

Pensacola — The Pensacola Fire Board of Trustees adopted a minor revision to its investment policy required by state law and completed several routine governance actions, including the election of Charles Goode Jr. and approval of vendor payments and benefit allowances.

During the money-managers segment, consultant Larry Cole told trustees the investment policy needed a brief insertion to require divestment of entities that boycott Israel to comply with state rules; the change appears as a single paragraph on page 7 of the investment policy statement. The board moved to adopt the revised policy and approved it unanimously after trustees confirmed legal review had occurred.

At the meeting’s start trustees nominated and elected Charles (Chuck) Goode Jr. as the board’s fifth member; the nomination was seconded and the four voting members present voted to elect him. The board then approved the minutes of the prior meeting unanimously.

Under new business the board approved several payment items grouped as sections A–D, approved FPPT membership dues, authorized death allowances for Juanita Maxwell and Vera E. Lewis, and approved FPPTA training registrations for February, June and September. All motions were moved, seconded and passed by voice vote without opposition.

The board’s attorney introduced law clerk Carly Choate to the trustees and noted she will attend future meetings after her law-school graduation next month. Administrator Amy reported she had no items to add. With no public requests and no further business the chairman adjourned the meeting.
