Applicant Brian Spencer and ARB supporters said the ARB considered expertise from a preservation advisor and that the structure had been classified as non‑contributing. During public comment, a resident asked that the demolition permit include an environmental/asbestos survey and tree‑preservation measures; council members noted permitting and inspections would require those safeguards as part of the demolition permit process.
A motion to uphold the ARB’s demolition approval was made, seconded and adopted on a 5–0 vote.
What happens next: The applicant may proceed with the demolition permitting process, which will include standard permitting inspections and environmental safeguards required by the permitting office.
