Moran told the commission his request was not a large ask but a request for more communication and collaboration so staff could return with a set of feasible options. "There's no big ask here other than, more communication on this," Moran said, asking the commission to allow staff to work with county representatives and return with several options.
Commissioners broadly supported the idea. The vice mayor moved to direct the city manager to work with Mr. Moran and his team to bring back plans for a new Sarasota County tax collection building on the City Hall campus; a subsequently adopted amendment included the city attorney in those discussions. The final motion directing staff passed unanimously.
