Robla trustees honor Latin Heritage Month, hear foundation and library updates

During presentations, a World Education Foundation representative identified in the meeting as Ian reviewed summer fundraising and volunteer work tied to a fireworks sale that exceeded prior-year sales by about 10%, delivered checks totaling $6,820 (including a $4,000 annual grant to a strings project and a $330 check to Glenwood PTC) and described sponsoring roughly two dozen children to attend a basketball camp run with the Filipino Alliance for Multicultural Empowerment. Ian cited Marcy, a SCOE mental‑health clinician assigned to Robla, as a partner in identifying students who benefited.
District certificated librarian of record Faye Grundle briefed trustees on a draft district library manual that compiles universal library policies and procedures, aligns to the American Association of School Libraries and the California model school library standards, and supports LCAP goals. Grundle said the manual aims to build diverse and bilingual collections (noting Glenwood’s DLI program) and to offer extended evening hours three days a week so families can access resources and computers.
The superintendent also noted a small enrollment increase, announced ParentSquare and LCFFM outreach pushes for the month, congratulated May and Taylor schools on California PBIS recognition (platinum and gold, respectively) and clarified a community concern about a faded flag on campus by saying a private leaseholder maintains the flag and has agreed to replace it but expects a roughly five‑week turnaround.
Trustees thanked presenters and the community; the board then moved to the consent and action portions of the agenda.
