Select board approves routine permits, contracts and land sales in Aug. 18 meeting

At its Aug. 18 meeting the Town of Millis select board voted on multiple administrative, contractual and land‑use items. Key actions recorded in unanimous votes included:
- Ratified appointment of Janet Nehas as executive office assistant (start Aug. 19). - Ratified appointment of Julie Alden Cullinane as human resources director (start Sept. 2). - Ratified appointment of Anne McManus as temporary public health nurse. - Approved a six‑month SAFE Coalition pilot client services agreement not to exceed $5,000 per six months (renewal allowed once; total not to exceed $10,000). - Approved SAFE Coalition’s request to display a flag installation for International Overdose Awareness Day (Aug. 29–Sep. 1). - Approved entering into a five‑year Verizon FiOS cable license renewal agreement. - Adopted stormwater regulation updates required by the MS4 permit. - Approved Kleinfelder PFAS consulting services (not to exceed $10,000) and Kleinfelder stormwater consulting for FY26 (not to exceed $108,777). - Approved a GCG Associates contract for sewer system engineering not to exceed $35,000. - Approved waiver of building permit fees for Millers Housing Authority project at 6–24 Daniel Street. - Authorized sale of a Cedar Road parcel to Roaches Building Company Inc. for $15,000 and sale of a Morris Street parcel to Michael O'Keefe for $2,250. - Approved two one‑day liquor licenses for Bogosto Fish and Game Club events and a July 2025 water and sewer commitment to the collector totaling $3,536.24. - Approved draft minutes for July 9, July 21 and Aug. 11 and adjourned.
Several items will generate follow‑up actions: consultant contracts to begin work, the SAFE Coalition pilot to provide usage statistics for an extension decision, and sale documentation to be executed by the select board chair.
