The Millis select board unanimously approved three personnel appointments on Aug. 18.
The board ratified the town administrator’s recommendation of Janet Nehas for an 18‑hour‑a‑week executive office assistant position; the appointment includes minute‑taking responsibilities and accounts‑payable work and takes effect Aug. 19. The board then ratified Julie Alden Cullinane as the town’s first human resources director, with a Sept. 2, 2025 start date; Cullinane briefly introduced herself and said she lives in Bellingham and looks forward to joining Millis.
Because of a recent resignation, the board also ratified the appointment of Anne McManus as temporary public health nurse until a permanent public health nurse is selected. Staff and board members praised McManus’ prior service during the COVID period and said she is familiar with Board of Health operations.
All three motions to ratify appointments were moved, seconded and approved unanimously. The board welcomed each appointee and instructed staff to complete hiring paperwork and introductions to the relevant departments.
