Summary
Revolutionary 250 reported a series of regional commemorations tied to the Henry Knox Trail, including a Jan. 10 state-line meetup and multi-weekend events through February and March with partners in New York and local towns.
Jonathan Lane, representing Revolutionary 250, told commissioners the group is working with New York partners and local communities on a multi-site Henry Knox Trail commemoration that will begin with a state-line meetup at 10 a.m. on Jan. 10. The commemorations will include outdoor and indoor events at Crown Point, Fort Ticonderoga, Fort George and Fort Edward in New York and multiple Massachusetts stops.
Lane said the group will use student-built sleds developed by vocational students in Saratoga and then exhibit those sleds later at the State Museum of New York. He outlined Massachusetts events that include a Jan. 17 commemoration at the Springfield Armory, Jan. 31 events in Worcester with the American Antiquarian Society, a Feb. 8 event in Framingham and later commemorations planned for Cambridge (tentatively Feb. 28), Roxbury (tentatively March 7) and Dorchester Heights on March 17.
Lane called the calendar "a terrific, terrific part of the commemoration" and thanked partner organizations such as local historical societies, the Daughters and Sons of the American Revolution and the National Park Service for collaboration.
He invited commission members to attend and noted detailed run-of-show planning was in progress and that the group will report back with more information ahead of the January events.
