The committee considered its routine reauthorization bill that prevents administrative rules from automatically expiring on May 1.

"All rules automatically expire on May 1, so this bill needs to be effective before May 1 to ensure that all the administrative rules do not expire," staff explained. The draft allows for substitutions and amendments during session for rules that legislators identify as problematic.

Representative Walter moved the favorable recommendation; the committee adopted it unanimously.

Chair also briefed members on an emergency administrative-rule filing the Lieutenant Governor's office will make to correct a scrivener's error in a previously posted rule concerning early submission of signature packets; staff and the LG's office will coordinate so the intended change is in place before January.
