Columbia High junior tells La Joya ISD board accusations against teacher Alexandra Pena Flores are false

A Columbia High School student who identified himself as Isaac Curado (also recorded later as Isaac Jurado for the record) addressed the La Joya ISD board during public comment to defend teacher Alexandra Pena Flores against accusations that students were used for political activity.
"Any claims that students were used for political purpose is false," Isaac said, adding he attended the Oct. 25 community service event and that it was off district property, outside school hours and voluntary. He told the board he was speaking from "direct firsthand experience" and brought written statements and more than 150 student signatures supporting the teacher.
Isaac cited Texas Election Code 255.003 and Texas Education Code 11.169, saying those laws prohibit use of public funds or district money for political advertising or electioneering and that "Miss Flores used 0 district funds and never engaged in electioneering." He said the event did not use school resources, emails, facilities or class time.
The board secretary recorded the speaker's name on the public record as "Isaac Jurado." Board President thanked him for his comments; no other public commenters signed up that segment.
The student's statement is a sworn assertion at public comment and the board did not take formal action on personnel matters during the meeting; the transcript does not show a response from the teacher or a personnel hearing on the record.
