At the November meeting the Oak Hills Park Authority received several informational reports on grants, volunteer events and supporters' funds.
Mary Verell, the authority s Nature Advisory member, said the board had not yet heard about a separate '2 roads' grant but reported receiving an approximate $4,000 Goodman Foundation grant to support a food-forest project. Verell described ongoing invasive-species removal, monthly volunteer workdays and plans to use leaves and wood chips to prepare planting beds. She announced a "forest bathing" event for Saturday, Nov. 29, from 11 a.m. to noon and said the advisory plans educational sessions beginning in January on composting.
Jerry Crowley reported the Supporters of Oak Hills had $30,857.57 at the end of the third quarter, with about $26,002.47 held as restricted cash (primarily tennis) and $4,609.92 unrestricted for discretionary use. "If you'd like more details on that, just let me know and I'll give them to you," Crowley said.
On the pro shop, the executive committee briefed the authority on a plan to purchase inventory left by departing pro Paul (listed in the transcript as Paul Alexander Golf) for roughly $9,600 and move remaining merchandise into the authority s store; staff said retail value was roughly $13,900 and that sales already are being processed through authority accounts.
The meeting also included standard staff reports: the superintendent updated the board on bunker construction and greens aeration, and the controller reported October operating results and the status of the audit.
Next steps: staff will coordinate volunteer events, follow up on the grant application status, and execute inventory accounting for the pro shop purchase if no objections are raised.
