The SABEJO school board on Nov. 17 approved a slate of routine business including the October financial statements, consent items, a contract addendum with Schneider Electric, an appointment to the Vestavia Hills annexation committee and personnel actions.
Unidentified Speaker 3, presenting the financial report, said that during October the district earned $80,669 in interest income from its treasury sweep account and that the 30-day yield was about 3.78 percent compared with roughly 4.5 percent a year earlier. He said the district's general fund revenues and transfers were at 8.6 percent of budgeted amounts (8.5 percent at the same point last year). “All bank accounts have been reconciled as of October 31, and the monthly financial reports have been submitted to the Alabama Department of Education,” the presenter said.
Board members moved and approved the October financial statements by voice vote.
The board approved consent agenda items covering disposal of property, several technology and vehicle items, and both in-state and out-of-state overnight field trips.
On a business item that drew brief discussion, the board approved an addendum to the district's energy-management contract with Schneider Electric. Unidentified Speaker 2 described the addendum as addressing mechanical and roofing needs at Dolly Ridge Elementary School — including work on the main building's mechanical systems, roofing, and expanded repair and automation systems — and said the work is planned as funding becomes available. According to the presenter, funding for the addendum comes from state supplemental and investment-technology dollars the district has received in part this year and expects to receive further next year. The board approved the addendum by voice vote.
The board also approved the superintendent's recommendation to appoint Jacqueline Hudson to represent the Board of Education on the Vestavia Hills annexation committee; Hudson was not present at the meeting. The board approved a slate of personnel items as submitted.
All motions reported on the record were approved by voice vote; individual roll-call tallies were not specified on the transcript. The meeting adjourned after brief closing remarks.
