At its meeting, the Enterprise City Schools board recognized students and staff across multiple schools, presenting student-of-the-month and employee/teacher-of-the-month awards and praising a district 'A' on the state report card.
The Enterprise City Schools Board recognized a slate of students, teachers and support staff at its recent meeting, celebrating academic achievement, classroom leadership and community service.
An eighth-grader, Kaylee Hendricks, was introduced as student of the month; the presenter highlighted her interest in science and math and her participation in the Expressions show choir. Support staff member Kim Pike was recognized as employee of the month and noted as support-staff-of-the-year at Coppinville; the presenter said she has worked at Coppinville about one year and that family members attended the ceremony.
Teacher-of-the-month honors went to Justin McPherson, identified as a seventh- and eighth-grade STEM teacher who coaches robotics and drones and is in his third year in education; the presenter also introduced McPherson’s family, including his wife, Caitlin, and a newborn son, Lincoln. Johnny Booth, principal of Dolphin Junior High, introduced his school’s honorees: Reginald Peterson, the employee of the month and an in-school-suspension instructor and coach with about five years of service; and Carlene Sessions, the teacher-of-the-month and teacher-of-the-year nominee, whom colleagues and students described as caring and dedicated. Cody Irwin, assistant principal at Dauphin Junior High, presented Ace Williams as Dolphin’s student of the month, noting perfect attendance and school and community service involvement.
Several presenters read short student testimonials to illustrate the honorees’ impact; one student line read aloud was, “I don't like math, but I like Ms. Sessions,” which the presenter used to underscore teacher Carlene Sessions’s influence on students.
Board members and administrators also used the meeting to congratulate principals and staff on recent honors at the Alabama Association of Middle School Principals conference.
The board thanked staff and families for their work and attendance. The board’s next scheduled meeting was announced for December 16 at 05:00.
