The Property Management Committee approved two utility easement items affecting the Thompson Lane/Segal Road intersection.
Mike Demasi presented a temporary workspace easement request from Atmos Energy related to the Thompson Lane widening (state Route 268). The temporary workspace is approximately 543 square feet, to be used during construction; the agreement reviewed by county attorneys sets an 18-month term. The committee approved the temporary easement on a motion and voice vote.
Mike Hughes, Rutherford County Engineering, presented a related Murfreesboro Water Resource Department request to relocate a water line that will occupy a permanent public easement (about 5,882 square feet) on part of the Segal High School campus plus a 10-foot temporary construction easement. Hughes said the city proposed compensation of roughly $3,564 for the permanent easement and about $1,182 for the temporary construction easement — $4,746.65 in total — and asked the county to waive that fee. Commissioner Phillips moved to approve the easement and waive the fee; the committee approved the motion on a roll call.
The permanent easement enables the city to move infrastructure outside the new pavement footprint required by the widening project; the city had cooperated with the county on similar actions in the past and requested the waiver on the grounds of shared residents and public benefit.
