Charles Garza, CEO and founding partner of Harvest Singularity, told the Crystal River audience that his company will locate two large controlled‑environment hydroponic greenhouses at Newberry's F300 Ag Food Tech Innovation Park and will make the park its headquarters.
Garza gave project specifics on the record: each facility will be roughly 325,000 square feet, with a stated per‑facility investment of $66,000,000 and an average staff of 50–60 employees earning an average of $91,000. He said the company expects its first two Newberry facilities to be the start of a 10‑farm plan across Florida, calling for a total $660,000,000 investment statewide over the next five to seven years.
"Another big decision driver for us to invest, $132,000,000 in Newberry was Newberry's F 300 Ag Tech Park," Garza said, connecting the state's grant support for the F300 site with the company's investment decision. He described technology choices — precision agriculture, AI and robotics — and said the farms will require about 40,000 gallons of captured rainwater per day and will operate without pesticides, fungicides or herbicides.
Garza said each facility would produce large daily yields and would partner with UF IFAS and state colleges to create training and education paths for local students. He thanked Governor DeSantis and state leaders for supporting the project.
The company projection and the governor's grant announcement were presented together at the event; Garza's investment figures were stated on the record but were not independently verified during the event. Implementation timelines, permitting and procurement steps were not detailed at the announcement.
