Lancaster County supervisors approved two actions related to emergency communications at their Nov. 20 meeting.
Staff asked for a six-month extension of the Federal Engineering contract so consultants can finalize the project and assist with decommissioning the county’s current system; staff reported year-to-date expenditures of $47,569 against an original $278,000 budget and said no new appropriation was expected at this time. The board approved the extension to June 30, 2026.
Separately, staff proposed changing the existing master services arrangement to a 10-year agreement with L3Harris, citing the 10–20 year expected life of the radio system and the benefit of locking in service terms. Staff said the new arrangement will increase the first payment in fiscal 2027. The board moved and unanimously approved the 10-year contract.
Both votes were recorded by voice as unanimous at the meeting; staff will return with contract documents and budget adjustments as needed.
