The Lakewood Board of Education on Nov. 24 voted to approve routine business items on the consent agenda, adopted multiple human-resources resolutions, approved a resolution to abolish a position, and voted to hire a new district treasurer.
The consent agenda was moved, seconded and approved by roll call with five recorded Aye votes (Mrs. Katzenberger, Ms. Shaughnessy, Ms. Clark Sutton, Mr. Callahan and Ms. Diamond). The board then considered four separate resolutions covering certified and classified employee actions; those resolutions were adopted on one reading after motion, second and vote.
A resolution to abolish a position was presented with administration stating it had worked with the union; the board adopted that resolution by voice vote.
Board members discussed the treasurer hiring process and noted Kent Zeman’s upcoming retirement. The board approved the resolution to hire the new treasurer on one reading; roll call recorded Aye from Miss Katzenberger, Miss Shaughnessy, Miss Clark Sutton, Mr. Callahan and Miss Donnan. The new treasurer, Megan Rohde (currently in Bay Village), is scheduled to be introduced at the next board meeting.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn that passed by voice vote.
