At its Nov. 24 meeting the Prescott City Council approved Elizabeth Vedder to the tourism committee, noting Vedder is a downtown business owner who has participated in committee meetings and was nominated by the tourism committee to fill a vacancy.

Staff also announced the filing period for the April 2026 election: nomination papers open Dec. 1, 2025 and close Jan. 6, 2026 at 4:30 p.m. Seats up include the mayor (current mayor Doherty), Ward 3 (alderman person Hintz) and Ward 4 (alderman person Sorensen). Staff said notices and ward maps are available on the city website and GIS.

Council members moved and seconded a motion to cancel the regular council meeting scheduled for Monday, Dec. 22, citing the holiday calendar and traditionally light December agendas; the motion passed.
