The Paradise Valley Unified District received full systemwide accreditation from Cognia in June 2025 after a two‑year review of the district’s programs and operations, district officials said.

Jean Copin, assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction for Paradise Valley Unified District, said the accreditation required a districtwide analysis beginning in 2023 that examined preschool through 12th grade as well as district departments. "We received the full accreditation in, June '25," Copin said, adding that Cognia acted as a third‑party reviewer that interviewed board members, parents, principals and department leaders to identify areas for improvement.

District officials said the systemwide approach differs from traditional single‑school reviews. Copin said systemwide accreditation is intended to ensure alignment of curriculum, teaching practices and district supports so students entering preschool and graduating from high school encounter consistent expectations and services. She added that the process also helps verify that district diplomas are accepted by postsecondary institutions and said accreditation allows the district to participate in AIA athletics.

Copin outlined follow‑up requirements tied to the accreditation: Cognia will conduct regular check‑ins, including six‑month reviews tied to district improvement plans and a larger three‑year checkpoint intended to evaluate whether priorities should be reset. The district said the accreditation term extends through 2031, with interim reviews to monitor progress.
