Parks staff told the board they intend to apply to the Texas Recreation and Park Society for Lone Star Legacy Park designation for Rawhide Trail Park, a recognition for parks with 50 or more years of history and cultural significance. Speaker 4 said the application deadline is Dec. 1 and that supporting materials should include at least three letters; staff offered to draft a letter for board members to sign or to provide a template they could adapt.

The board also discussed planned new Rawhide Trail signage with rules and a QR code linking to trail information. Several members objected to replacing mileage markers with a QR code, saying many trail users do not carry phones; one member requested mileage be restored or posted at intervals along the trail. Speaker 4 said the new signs will be double-sided and include trail rules, and that emergency markers will be moved to light poles.

Separately, board members requested a tree audit to document which trees were removed and which were planted after recent work and to make that audit available for residents. Staff agreed to add the tree-audit request to the January agenda and to draft the Lone Star Legacy Park support letter.
