Recreation and Aquatics staff presented a calendar of holiday programs and logistics changes, and asked the Parks and Recreation Board for support in staffing and outreach. Speaker 3 listed events including Letters to Santa, Fall Holiday Craze (Nov. 24–28), Feliz Navidad (Dec. 5), Santa Makes House Calls (Dec. 8–24), a Christmas carnival (Dec. 6), Pancakes & Pajamas (Dec. 13) and the winter holiday schedule through Jan. 5. Staff said the Santa route will now end at Mustang Station rather than Hoya to encourage activity in that area.
The department described volunteer needs and a new teen-volunteer waiver being developed with risk management so high‑school-aged volunteers can participate year‑round in city events; Speaker 3 said the waiver would allow teens to “participate at all the different city events” with a small fee possible for program enrollment. Board members offered to help staff the Christmas carnival and Pancakes & Pajamas and noted an unusual uptick in resident volunteer interest this season.
Staff also highlighted contingency planning for rainouts, reuse of vendors and recent turnout numbers (staff estimated about 1,600 people for one Halloween event, counting school and neighborhood participation). The board asked staff to email full event details and volunteer sign-up information ahead of the holiday events.
