The Town of Sellersburg Town Council on Nov. 24 adopted Ordinance 2025-OR-024 to set the town’s salary orders for 2026 and approved a separate amendment to the 2025 salary orders (recorded in the minutes as 2025-ORD-025).
During discussion, staff said the 2026 salary ordinance reflects the budget workshop recommendations: range adjustments in several departments, an increase in certain maximums and targeted pay changes discussed for public safety and public works. Council members questioned whether increases were cost-of-living adjustments or targeted range changes; staff answered they were range and allocation adjustments consistent with prior budget meetings.
Council waived the second reading of Ordinance 2025-OR-024 and adopted it by voice vote. Later the council approved Ordinance 2025-ORD-025, which reallocates specified percentage pay amounts from Parks to Streets & Sanitation, zeros out the park superintendent’s pay for the remainder of 2025, and increases the Streets & Sanitation maximum headcount from four to five so the department can begin hiring a backfill while an employee remains on short-term disability.
Councilmembers also discussed patrol pay during the ordinance conversation; one figure cited in the meeting for patrol pay next year was roughly $67.07 per hour compared with $65 currently (figure quoted in discussion and recorded as approximate). The parks board and staff said they are evaluating the long-term structure of the park superintendent position and may revisit compensation or role design later.
The council approved appointments to several boards and secretarial positions during the meeting: Jeremy Corbett was named planning commission secretary; Donna was approved to serve as recording secretary for the Board of Zoning Appeals and Parks & Recreation. Motions were approved by voice votes.
