The Ellington School District Board of Education recorded several formal actions during its November meeting.

Budget calendar: On the recommendation of the finance committee, the board approved the 2026–27 budget calendar with amended meeting times. Members discussed workshop dates and agreed to move some meetings to 6:00 p.m. to accommodate schedules.

Policy 4400 (FMLA): The board approved second‑read revisions to policy 4400 (Family and Medical Leave Act) upon recommendation of the policy committee; the motion carried by voice vote.

Field trip: The board approved a middle‑school field trip to Washington, D.C., scheduled for June 2–5, 2026, subject to the conditions in board policy 5150.

Superintendent goals and capital plan: The board removed the superintendent goals from the table and then voted to postpone approval of the 2025–26 superintendent goals to the December meeting. Separately, the board moved and voted to table the five‑year capital plan to allow additional member review.

Personnel: The board accepted with regrets the retirement of John Chaves, Tech Ed teacher at Ellington High School, effective Jan. 30, 2026.
