Hamilton County commissioners approved a contract award for the replacement of Bridge 125 and referred bids for Bridge 225 to the Highway Department for evaluation.

Highway staff read four bids for Bridge 225 (Atlantic Road over Stony Creek). The amounts announced were Ponton Contractors at $1,070,154; Hoosier Pride Excavating at $992,838.76; Duncan Robertson at $1,064,315.30; and HIS Constructors at $957,102.99. Highway recommended the submissions be referred to the Highway Department for review and recommendation; the board approved that referral by voice vote.

Later in the meeting staff recommended awarding the replacement of Bridge 125 to HIS Constructors for $957,102.99 “as read.” Commissioners moved, seconded and approved the award by voice vote. Board members thanked bidders for a competitive process; staff said the Highway Department will complete contract paperwork and return with any necessary agreements and next steps.

The referral for Bridge 225 is intended to allow highway staff to complete technical review and recommend a contract award at a future meeting; the Bridge 125 award was finalized at this session.
