The Perrysburg Board used much of its Nov. 24 meeting to recognize student-athletes, coaches and volunteers. Athletic Director Chuck Jayco and several head coaches outlined seasonal accomplishments across sports — including league titles, regional finals and state final appearances — and introduced student-athletes by name.
Coach Jorge Diaz was honored for his retirement and long record (presented as 225 wins, 42 losses, 31 ties with multiple state championships and regional successes). The board also presented a Shining Star award to Brooke Schulte for volunteer work at Frank Elementary, including garden-day coordination and student leadership programs.
Levy volunteers and co-chairs were invited forward; co-chairs Kristen Kaiser and Ashley Sackett thanked the community and volunteers for supporting the recent levy, which board members said will help maintain programs and class sizes.
During public comment, resident Kevin Rantanen described personal interactions with Toth Elementary staff during his wife’s hospitalization and credited teachers, counselors and staff for frequent outreach and concrete assistance.
