The Franklin Public Library Board of Trustees voted Nov. 24 to approve the library’s 2026 calendar of holidays, partial closures and board meetings, with a single official change to the December meeting date noted in the packet.
Maria moved to adopt the 2026 calendar and trustees approved the motion by voice vote. During discussion trustees flagged potential conflicts between school off-days, civic celebration dates and library programming; staff said children’s librarians review the school calendar when planning off-day programs.
Trustees discussed whether to move the regular monthly meeting when it conflicted with holidays (for example, a May meeting falling on a holiday). The board agreed to note a proposed change and revisit it at the April meeting to ensure public posting timelines are met before any formal change is published.
The board also asked trustees to come to the next meeting with possible dates for a January strategic retreat, typically a morning session to review the five-year plan and set annual goals.
“What’s next: The calendar is approved and staff will post the adopted schedule; trustees will bring possible retreat dates to the December meeting and any change to the regular meeting day will be announced at least a month in advance.”
