Division staff presented recommended changes to Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit (CWMU) and landowner permits, highlighting acreage and permit adjustments. The presentation noted that Salt Wells CWMU will drop roughly 28,814 acres after several landowners withdrew participation, resulting in a remaining CWMU of about 7,800 acres that still qualifies for pronghorn permits.
Specific adjustments included adding one private buck tag at Blackhawk, six bull-elk tags at Indian Head, and four bull-elk tags for Patmos Ridge tied to donated-hunt/reciprocal program reasons. Presenters clarified that Patmos Ridge’s participation falls under the reciprocal/donated-hunt provisions (one of five allowable reasons in the rule) and that the additional tags are expected to be used for donated hunts to disabled hunters rather than raising funds.
RAC members asked for rule citations and justification for each change; presenters committed to including those caveats in future presentations. The RAC moved to approve the CWMU and landowner permit recommendations as presented; the motion passed by roll call.
