During public comment, Jason Lanier of Lansdale asked the Safe Schools Committee to reconcile what he said were higher violence rates on the state dashboard (safeschools.pa.gov) with the district's internal reporting. Lanier cited a figure of 16.04 incidents per 100 students for middle schools and asked why the district's numbers appeared lower.
Doctor Bauer offered to meet with Lanier to compare the data sources and explore possible upload or definitional discrepancies. "I'd welcome the opportunity to sit down with him, pull up our data, pull up what he's looking at, see if we can find discrepancies," Bauer said. Administrators noted state-reporting categories and district coding differ and acknowledged past instances where dashboard uploads did not align with internal reports.
Tina Gallagher, a Talminson resident and retired special-education teacher volunteering with the Be SMART program, offered the district materials and presentations to promote secure firearm storage and asked whether North Penn would post or distribute Be SMART resources. The chair and administrators acknowledged the outreach and said staff would follow up.
Committee members closed public comment by thanking participants and reiterating the district s commitment to transparency. Doctor Bauer and other administrators said they would follow up with both members of the public to provide further information and next steps.
