Dodaro said the board is ready to undertake defined tasks if the BOC provides a prioritized list.

Several commissioners recommended the Parks & Landscape Board submit a prioritized 5–10 item list (with estimated costs and categorization for easy staff follow‑up) and suggested quarterly check‑ins or a regular liaison. City Manager Tom Doherty noted the board was created by Ordinance 24‑07 and advised the commissioners to review the ordinance and the board’s bylaws when setting expectations.

On a related agenda item, Commissioner Roberts reintroduced discussion of placing an outparcel across Dice Lamply Road into the Tennessee Land Trust to preserve it in perpetuity. Vice Mayor McDonald cautioned that placing property into a land trust removes some future flexibility for the city and said the existing five commissioners already exercise protection via their votes; other commissioners and some public commenters stressed the parcel’s ecological sensitivity and thought land trust protection appropriate. No vote was taken. Commissioners agreed to seek more information and continue discussion in subsequent meetings.
