Staff introduced PLAY, a quarterly digital recreation guide (Parks, Leisure and Activities for You) that will be published online only initially and updated each quarter. The guide will list programs, classes and events by facility, and staff said they plan paid advertising and social-media distribution; printed editions may be considered in the future if funding allows.

Staff also announced a yearlong celebration marking the 50th anniversary of Sunrise Park tied to the PLAY launch, with monthly events and a culminating fall 2026 celebration. Commissioners were invited to a more formal presentation in January.

The department previewed a calendar of December events including a VillageFest holiday entry, a tree-lighting ceremony at Francis Stevens Park on Dec. 5, the Festival of Lights parade on Dec. 6, snapshots with Santa and other family programs, holiday movie nights, and an adults-only screening on Dec. 27. Staff noted registration deadlines for some programs and asked commissioners to promote events in their communities.
