The Palm Springs Parks and Recreation Commission heard Nov. 24 that the City Council approved plan specifications and estimates for the Demuth Park redevelopment and authorized staff to move the project to a 30-day bidding period.

Staff described the Demuth scope to include small- and large-dog areas, a new restroom building and parking improvements. Bids will be solicited for 30 days, after which staff will return to City Council to award a contract and begin construction.

Separately, staff reported that the Council approved a $742,000 task order to Maria Song and Interactive Design Corporation to proceed with design work for the Palm Springs Swim Center renovation. Staff said the vendor is preparing construction design documents and that the renovation is now officially underway.

Staff asked commissioners to note both items will return to Council for contract award and further approvals; Demuth Park will come back to Council in the coming months and swim-center design work is in progress.
