City staff presented a revised procurement plan for furnishings at the new Shepherdsville aquatic center and briefed the council on construction progress on Nov. 24.
Arthur said staff renegotiated initial bids and proposed combining interior furniture from MBI with state-bid pricing through DWA Recreation, producing an estimated savings of about $189,000 compared with earlier figures. The items described include interior tables, chairs, desks and lobby lounges; built-in bleachers will be part of the facility but some competitor bleacher purchases will be handled separately in coordination with the management team. Staff said they are prioritizing locally sourced vendors where possible and noted typical supplier guarantees (six months or manufacturer assurances) for replacement availability.
On construction, Arthur reported the exterior pool is under construction and that the interior pool space is under roof, allowing interior work to proceed with less weather risk; staff is targeting a late‑March to Memorial Day timeframe for opening but said weather and final operational training could affect the date. The council made a motion to use the two vendors presented (MBI and DWA Recreation) for the furnishings; the motion was moved and seconded during the meeting.
