Representatives from the county museum updated the board on a planned ham radio field day and recent donations for park projects.
Museum staff said they will host a 24-hour ham radio event and are considering a more permanent radio display. The museum also reported recent fundraising success: the museum and park effort together presented $50,000 earmarked for the park lighting project, described in the transcript as $30,000 from the Community Foundation and $20,000 from the hospital.
Board members discussed carriage rides and ways the museum’s activities could drive visitors to the park’s Smith Building during the holiday events. Separately, emergency management has offered a used standby emergency generator for the Smith Building; staff said they are arranging placement and hookup and will likely need to pour a pad for installation on the west side of the building.
The board welcomed the donations and asked staff to coordinate logistics for the generator and for holiday event planning with the museum.
