The Needham Human Rights Committee agreed to collaborate with the Immigration Justice Task Force on a community program planned for January 26, after hearing a proposal from committee members and a motion to formalize the partnership.
Cynthia briefed members that Heather Ewing has agreed to help and that the task force had penciled in available dates; the task force asked whether the NHRC would co-sponsor and be the entity to book a venue. Committee members discussed logistics, possible venues, and the need to book early; one member noted that the task force already had tentatively held part of the venue’s schedule.
"If we approve to go along with them, that date is available," Cynthia said, summarizing the task force’s request. A member moved that the Human Rights Committee collaborate with the Immigration Justice Task Force on an event essentially happening on January 26; the committee approved the motion by voice vote (members said "Aye"; no roll-call tally was given).
Next steps: members agreed that committee liaisons will confirm venue booking (if needed), connect with the task force to finalize speakers and timing, and publicize the event once details are firm.
