The Board of Examiners for Nursing voted Nov. 19 to accept Mary Salisbury as interim program director for Goodwin University’s Practical Nursing (LPN) program after a qualifications review presented by the school.

Vivian Bridal, dean of nursing and health professions at Goodwin, described Salisbury’s academic and practice background and said she rose from adjunct faculty to assistant dean. ‘‘My candidate, doctor Mary Salisbury,’’ Bridal said as she introduced the candidate and summarized her teaching and leadership experience. Salisbury told the board she has practiced as a nurse since 2000 and has experience in mental-health settings.

The board opened for questions but had none on the candidate. Lisa Freeman moved to accept Salisbury as interim LPN director; Elizabeth Vera Rodriguez seconded. After a roll-call vote the board recorded the motion as approved.

The action installs an interim leader while Goodwin continues the search for a permanent program director. The board later heard Goodwin’s quarterly report and reiterated its interest in strong faculty credentials and NCLEX-NextGen preparation. No additional conditions were recorded in the board’s motion.

The board will return to the agenda at a later meeting for routine oversight on program outcomes and any further personnel matters.
