The Glynn County Board of Commissioners approved a rezoning on Nov. 20 to allow office space and light warehouse storage at 224 Old Jessup Road (parcel O3-09090). Christopher Carey, senior planner, told the board the plan development text follows highway-commercial-type uses with modified lot-size and setback requirements; the Mainland Planning Commission unanimously recommended approval.
Owner Kyle Allen spoke during the public hearing, saying the project would use lightweight metal buildings with roll-up doors to provide affordable warehousing for small businesses, not a single specialized industry. "I'd be a lightweight metal building, metal frame structure, warehousing, small office space with roll up doors," Allen said. No members of the public spoke in opposition.
After brief questions from commissioners, Commissioner (Speaker 6) moved to approve ZM-25-24 as presented; the board approved the motion by voice vote. The decision advances the applicant’s plan-development text and site plan work required for subsequent permitting and site-plan approvals.
The board recorded no conditions tied to the approval in the transcript; staff will proceed with the standard site-plan and permit review process.
