At a meeting of the St John Town Economic Development Committee, organizers reported the town's holiday market has filled all 52 vendor spots and is planning entertainment and volunteer support for the event, committee members said.
The committee heard that organizers received about 200 inquiries with roughly 100 people expressing interest and that about 50 applications arrived within hours of opening, one committee member said. "We have officially filled all 52 spots," the member said.
The market will include features carried over from last year, including igloos and a bouncy house, and organizers are lining up entertainment. Another committee member outlined the schedule: the Lake Central choir department will carol at 9:00, the Hanover choir department will perform after 10:00, Santa will offer photos from 10:00–12:00, and music from Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church is scheduled for 12:00–1:00.
Committee members discussed logistics and volunteer needs. When asked whether volunteers would be assigned shifts, an organizer said support will be informal: volunteers should come when available to help with tasks such as trash patrol and supervising the bouncy house. Organizers also asked for donated supplies, including firewood, cookies and candy canes.
Members noted the market is currently space-limited but could grow. "If this amphitheater is completed, would there be more room than the 52 at that?" a member asked. An organizer responded that expanding to double the number of vendors is the goal if space allows.
Votes at a glance: The committee approved the minutes of the Oct. 8 meeting after a member voiced "Aye" and the Chair declared the minutes approved. Later, the Chair moved to adjourn; a member indicated assent and the meeting was closed. The transcript does not identify who made or seconded the motions.
Before adjourning, the Chair reminded members that committee terms end Dec. 31 and returning members must formally reapply. The meeting recorded no public comments.
The committee did not take further formal action on market expansion; organizers said plans for expansion would depend on available space and future infrastructure such as the amphitheater.
