Parks staff briefed the Bay City parks advisory board on a potential historical-signage grant ranging from $2,500 to $50,000 and described outreach to SDSU and the local museum to research content. Staff said grant-match rules are roughly 15% for awards under $25,000 and 30% for awards over $25,000, and suggested hiring SDSU interns and involving museum staff to ensure accuracy and to surface stories of Native Americans, immigrants and people of color.
Staff noted three new signs will be installed in the arboretum imminently and said the grant would favor a walking-path concentration rather than widely scattered signs. The project would include an interactive web-based story map and QR codes linking on-site plaques to richer online content. Staff also said museum involvement could require a funding share depending on the museum's role.
