The Cuyahoga County Committee of the Whole on Nov. 25 accepted a substitute and referred to the full council a resolution to amend the county's broker contract with Alliant Insurance Services Inc., extending the contract through Dec. 31, 2026, and adding $2,256,483 for a total not to exceed $9,279,423, effective on signatures of the parties.

Awata Fassad of the law department's risk management division presented the item and introduced Alliant's broker representative, Shane Story. Fassad said the substitute replaces previously estimated insurance-coverage values with the actual values the county has since received and slightly lowers the projected cost by a little more than $100,000. "Alliant has been a great partner for the county," Fassad said, describing the amendment as a routine renewal of the county's insurance policies.

Members moved and seconded acceptance of the substitute and voted by voice to approve it. The committee then moved and seconded to refer the resolution (as amended by the substitute) to the full Council for second reading; the chair said it will be read that evening and will be up for final passage on Dec. 9.

No formal roll-call vote listing individual yes/no tallies was recorded on the substitute or the referral in the committee transcript; both actions passed by voice vote. The County Clerk read the resolution into the record and Alliant representatives and county risk-management staff were available to answer council questions during the committee presentation.

The resolution as read into the record authorizes: extending the term through Dec. 31, 2026; amending various contract terms to reflect received policy values; and adding $2,256,483 to make the contract total not to exceed $9,279,423, effective upon signatures of all parties. The committee's referral means the council will consider the amended resolution in full session for a second reading and possible final passage on Dec. 9.
