The Streator City Council approved Resolution 20 25 45, authorizing an additional $80,000 in Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) funds for the Iowa Avenue roadway project. City staff said extra quantities, a few soft spots and driveway/sidewalk work increased the project’s costs and that final paving was scheduled imminently, so the supplemental appropriation would allow the city to close the project with the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Mister Gary moved the resolution and Mister Reid seconded. During the discussion staff noted potential future resident requests for stop signs on LaRue near the project area. The clerk called the roll and recorded affirmative votes; the resolution passed.

The appropriation covers short-term overages and does not signal new scope beyond completing the planned paving and restoration work. Staff indicated they expect final paving to occur this week and will present final invoices to the state as part of the project closeout.
